Self Energy appoints associate in Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) agreement with London South Bank University
Self Energy UK has appointed Daniel Matson as Sustainable Energy Performance Systems Developer under a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) agreement with the London South Bank University (LSBU). Daniel will work with the Self Energy management team to reduce investment risk for the company and to develop decision support tools and further improve cost and savings forecasts for its clients. Daniel is based in the UK, but will also work with Self Energy’s other international offices. He will simultaneously be sponsored by LSBU through a Masters programme.
Daniel is a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh, having achieved a first-class Masters degree in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering. During his degree, he was able to gain some valuable work experience at a number of different engineering organisations, including Rolls- Royce and IHC Engineering Business.
KTP agreements support partnerships between business and universities, placing associates for two or more years, to work on challenging, high-profile projects. London South Bank University is one of the leading academic partners, with substantial experience of supporting successful KTP partnerships with a wide range of companies.
Daniel works full-time at Self Energy but is employed by London South Bank University. He receives university and company supervision, the opportunity to enrol for a fully-sponsored higher degree and also has the potential to develop a permanent position with Self Energy.
Says Daniel, “When it came to graduation and full-time employment, I was attracted to the emerging sustainable technologies sectors. This is a unique and promising position and I am settling into my role quickly and developing my understanding of the sector and expanding my skill set. I am very much looking forward to the next three years with Self Energy and LSBU and hope I will be to experience first-hand the rise of the ESCo industry in the UK.”
Paul Lewis, CEO, Self Energy UK, commented: "We are excited to be working in such close collaboration with LSBU who are well known as an academic leader of low carbon solutions for the built environment. I have no doubt the new role will bring substantial benefits to Daniel, to us and to LSBU."
