Roof Top Spain commissions Self Energy to implement an extra 1 MW of PV
Self Energy Group was initially commissioned by Roof Top Spain to implement an initial 1 MW of PV in Miralcampo located 30km from Madrid. The new solar park was contracted within an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) agreement.
This solar park is situated on the roof top of a building within an industrial park. A structural survey was carried out to determine if the current roof structure could withstand the weight of the solar park without further modifications. The panels were pre-mounted on a structure with 2 rows of 9 panels, using 175W monocrystalline photovoltaic panels thus requiring 320 of these pre-mounted structures.
For every 32 structures, a 100kW inverter was installed. This park is currently producing 1,475,920 kWh of electricity and offsetting 565.2 tCO2 a year.
Due to the success of this first stage, Self Energy has now been commissioned to add another 1 MW to this solar park. The works commenced in March 2010 and are due to finish in May 2010. The value of this project is approximately €5M.
This new combined solar park is expected to deliver 3 GWh of electricity and offset as much as 1,150 tCO2 annually.
