Renewable Heat Incentives to commence from April 2011

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has announced details of its plans for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) – launching a consultation on its scheme to incentivise renewable heat generation at all scales. The key points to note are as follows:

  • This will come into effect in April 2011 and guarantee payments for those who install technologies such as biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps and air source heat pumps.
  • Renewable heat generators will receive payments as set out in the table above.
  • Details of the tariff that will be introduced to fund the scheme will be set out in the Government's 2010 Budget.

Tariffs vary from technology to technology. For a full list, click here to download the relevant pages from the consultation.

The clean energy cashback announcements offer end users the opportunity to achieve fuller returns on their investment through the renewable energy technologies that have been proposed. Though April 2011 seems futuristic, end users need to investigate immediately the opportunities the announcements can provide. For more information and guidance contact info@selfenergy.co.uk.
